✨Inspire A Painting🖌️ is a project where I paint people from my online community, using their photo submissions. :)

I started✨IAP🖌️ back in January of 2020 with my instagram community. The project continued through ~2021. It was so inspiring, wholesome, & rad, & was honestly one of the highlights of my art career up to this point!! I really loved connecting with & collaborating with you guys in this way.  I love celebrating people through my paintings, so I feel SO jazzed about the idea of picking this up again!

Fill out the form HERE, & share 1-10 photos you’ve taken of yourself (or photos you own/have permission to use), for a chance to inspire an original, one of a kind painting. :)

All are welcome. Submissions may or may not be selected, but you’re welcome to submit multiple times.

Yes please! I don't want you to feel any pressure to collect the painting you inspired, so please don't let that deter you from submitting! 

I've had people express interest in having advanced access to purchasing the painting they inspired, so those steps are available as an option, if that's of interest to you, but I hope it doesn't feel weird. I don't need you to buy the painting, so please don't fret if that doesn't work for you! 

I hope the business side of things can feel like a win-win, as in the event of a sale, you either get a 15% off discount, or a 15% commission on the sale, so please choose whichever suits you best. This project is more about the creativity, connection, & collaboration than it is about the sales.

• If you’ve been selected, you’ll hear from me via email, after the painting is already completed. (As I'm aiming to do ~1 painting/person per week, it might take a bit!)

• In that email, you will find an early preview image of the painting.

• You'll also have the opportunity to purchase the painting in my shop with a private listing, before anyone else can, with your 15% off discount applied.

• The private listing will be available with the painting in reserve for a few days, until the deadline disclosed in the email. At which point, if the painting is still available, your private hold will be removed, & it will be listed publicly in my shop, alongside the public instagram post about the painting. Once it goes public it is now available as first come, first serve.

• After the painting is publicly listed, if someone other than you purchases the painting, your 15% discount will instead become a 15% commission, & within 3 business days of the sale, you will receive a payment via Venmo.

• If you missed your private listing window & you'd still like to purchase the painting, as long as the painting is still available in my shop, your 15% discount is still valid. The painting will just no longer be set aside reserved for you. I'll include a private discount code in your email you can use if you'd like to activate your discount at this time.

• (Do keep in mind, every painting doesn't always sell. After a while, it will be eventually retired from my online shop, & the painting will be kept in my storage/private collection, no longer available for sale. To reiterate, as the 15% commission or 15% discount is dependent on a sale, if there is no sale, you will not receive monetary payment for your participation in the project. I hope that makes sense & feels reasonable- thanks for understanding.)

So, if someone other than you purchases the painting, your 15% commission payment will be sent to your specified Venmo account, within 3 business days of the sale. You will also receive an email confirmation at this time, letting you know the Venmo payment has been sent.

The paintings will be available for sale in my shop. On average, prices will be ranging from $100 - $600 +shipping & +tax. Sizes will likely be ranging from mini 4"x4" (palm sized) - medium 9"x12" (~standard paper sized).

I believe art should be accessible & for everyone, not just for the elite. I want my prices with this project to reflect that, to the best I can. The materials I work with are top quality, & often quite expensive, but I want the beauty of an original to be available at as low of a price point as possible.

You're absolutely welcome to share, post, or use the digital image in your online personal profiles with credit. (Please credit my name, username, & tag me. Thanks!) Please be aware that the painting is not to be used for any commercial purposes/endeavors, without prior requested/written permission.

No, this is an online project. The goal for this project is for it to live cohesively online, & for there to be opportunities to be able to collect the work from my online store. Other than being in my home, the works from this project will not be displayed in any physical galleries or art pop-up shows. They will only live online, associated with my online presence on social media, my website, etc, & hopefully scattered throughout the world in rad people's homes. :)

Thanks for your interest! Nah, this is a one of a kind, original painting project. Everything will be made by hand with traditional materials.

If you’re interested in prints of my work, I’ll have prints available for some of my paintings outside of this project soon. :)

If selected, your photo will be used to help inspire a painting. Which means, I'll be creating a painting inspired by your likeness. Your name, pronouns, social media username, & photo will be displayed on my social posts & website alongside the painting. Your recommendations/favorites you share may be mentioned in reference to you in the post or online. Your email, all other info, & any submitted photos will not be shared outside of this use.

Oh, fun! Self-portrait photo shoots are always such a rad for of self-expression & experimentation.

• Have fun with it!

• I recommend natural lighting, outside or facing a window.

• Experiment with different angles: profile, straight on, looking down, looking up. 

• If taking the photo straight on, while looking at the lens, try & imagine you're looking into someone's eyes you know. If that feels too weird or vulnerable, try looking off to the side, or closed eyes is always serene & lovely. 

• Try taking a deep breath in through your nose, & breathe out through your mouth- this will relax your mouth & jaw in a natural way.

• It's always going to feel a little weird. The best art references tend to be either natural/candid calm or a bit dramatic or moody haha, so lean into whatever feels genuine in the moment.

If you have any access to plants, flowers, nature outside, a pool/body of water, or anything earthy or elemental, that's always a plus to include!

Are you a Halloween lover, cosplayer, theater kid, or like to collect vintage jewelry or misc items? If so, OMG, RADD!! Now is the time to let your freak flag fly. 😂😍🙌🤘

Don't like doing makeup? Don't worry, natural faced is classic & great. 

Is makeup fun for you? Cool, feel free to go ham, if you'd like! Your normal look, or something fun. Whatever strikes your fancy, it's about you feeling comfortable & having fun.

Another way of taking selfies: You could try putting your phone or camera on a tripod (or leaning it propped up against something) and taking a video instead. Now, you can try a variety of poses, & pick the still frames you like best.

Have an iPhone? Use the Live Photo setting, & select the key frame you like best in post.

Have an Apple Watch? If so, did you know there's a Camera Remote option on your apple watch? Open the app on your watch, open your camera on your phone, and now your watch screen will show you what is in the frame! You can now check that you're in the photo, see how it looks, & tap the button on your watch to take a few photos in succession. It's fantastic!

Unless otherwise inspired, I recommend submitting the photos unedited, or only minimally edited.

Please refrain from making adjustments or using filters that radically alter your appearance.
